Saltwater Fishing Regulations and Limits

  • Always check the daily limits for all species of finfish in the area you are fishing.
  • You must have a licence to fish for finfish. A licence is non-transferable and must be produced on request by a fishery conservation officer.
  • To retain salmon, you must have a salmon conservation stamp.
  • You must record chinook retained on your licence.
  • The aggregate daily limit for salmon in tidal and non-tidal waters is four.
  • Only barbless hooks may be used when fishing salmon.
  • Field canning is not allowed for any species of salmon.
  • Non-retention of sturgeon in tidal waters is in place throughout the coast.
