Victoria Honeymoons and Romantic Getaways

Romantic Accommodation

No honeymoon or romantic getaway is possible without the perfect accommodation. Victoria offers an incredible array of romantic hideaways from world class hotels, to oceanside resorts, to secluded bed and breakfasts. Some so luxurious, you won’t want to leave your room at all. Whether antiques and old-world charm is your style or sleek, modern design, each property is designed to cater to each couples’ individual needs.

Horsedrawn Carriage Rides

Experience the traditional charm of Victoria in a single horse drawn carriage. Ride through Victoria’s scenice downtown area and into beautiful Beacon Hill Park.  Sit back and be transported in the style of yesteryear. Quiet moon-lit streets are the perfect location for that romantic ride together. Year-round departures from Victoria’s Inner Harbour.

Ocean Vistas

Take time to stroll along Victoria’s waterfront and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Olympic Mountains and the incredible ocean vistas. Walk along the causeway and explore the Inner Harbour, home to beautiful sailboats and yachts. During your stay, make sure you get out on the water with an exciting whalewatching tour or an eco tour, exploring the unique wildlife found just off the coast of Vancouver Island.

Outdoor Adventure

Golfing, cycling and mountain biking, whale and wildlife watching, fishing, scuba diving, boating and sailing, birding, hiking and walking, kayaking and canoeing, rafting, tennis, cricket, lawn bowling, bungy jumping, horseback riding, windsurfing, flightseeing, in line skating, power boating, surfing, caving, alpine sightseeing, beachcombing, cruising, skiing and snowboarding. With all of this choice, a couple is sure to find something exciting to do.

Spas & Wellness

A honeymoon or romantic getaway is all about relaxing, pampering and having fun. So is visiting a spa. A spa treatment, such as a massage for two, can offer some relaxing, quality couple time and may be the catalyst between romance and relaxation that you are looking for from your holiday. Indulge yourself. Victoria spas offer a full range of services designed to de-stress and rejuvenate.

City of Gardens

With the mildest climate in Canada, it is easy to see why Victoria is known year-round as Canada’s Garden City. Although Victoria’s gardens peak from late February through October, our mild, sub-Mediterranean climate allows gardeners to show off their talents twelve months of the year. Seek out spring blossoms and blooming bulbs in late February and early March, in summer explore Victoria’s extensive gardens and the more than 700 hanging flower baskets that line Victoria’s downtown streets, and in the winter you can even visit a spectacular display of gardens at The Horticultural Centre of the Pacific. Even world renowned Butchart Gardens is open during the winter with a fabulous Christmas light display - what a romantic place for a stroll.

Shopping

No getaway is complete without shopping. Victoria is a fascinating marketplace of beautiful things from around the world and the city layout is ideal for strolling. Government Street is the city’s most famous and popular shopping area. Sample decadent chocolate in an 1893 confectionery, browse the shelves in one of Canada’s best bookstores, see some of the finest Native arts and crafts and find special gifts and unique souvenirs, from imported Irish linens and English bone china to Cowichan sweaters and hand-crafted jewellery. During your trip, remember to explore Chinatown for exotic Asian imports and to see historic Bastion and Market Squares.

Traditional Afternoon Tea

“More English than the English”, claimed world-famous Victoria-born artist Emily Carr when she referred to the city’s rich heritage and traditions. When you visit Victoria, make sure to partake in the time-honoured tradition of British afternoon tea, complete with a selection of teas, finger sandwiches, sweets, crumpets or scones, fresh fruit, preserves and of course, Devon cream.  Choose from dozens of tearooms, from grand and formal to charming and rustic.  ( Traditionally, tea is taken between 12:30 pm and 5 pm.)
