Galloping Goose Trail
Combined with the Peninsula Trail system, the Goose offers hikers and cyclists 100 kilometres of scenic pathways stretching from downtown Victoria to Sooke and from Victoria through Saanich to Sidney.
East Sooke Regional Park
Beach and forest trails for all levels are offered in this 1,422-hectare park. Day hikes only are permitted.
Juan de Fuca Marine Trail
Three sections, ranging from easy to difficult, comprise this 47-kilometre coastal trail. The trail is located close to Victoria and is accessed via Sooke. There are several access points with parking and wilderness campsites for overnight hikers.
Carmanah Walbran Provincial Park
West of Lake Cowichan, the park offers trails for all hiking levels and guided trips are available.
Cape Scott Provincial Park
Known for spectacular surf-swept beaches, the park offers challenging overnight hikes as well as easier day hikes and guided hikes. Access is by car from Port Hardy.

Gowlland Tod Park
Enjoy the splendour of this wilderness wonderland. Guided tours are available through outfitters within the park. For something different, try a trip complete with a llama companion.
Goldstream Provincial Park
Walk the extensive network of hiking trails through the old-growth rainforest. The park is famous for its fall run of spawning salmon and for its eagle watching opportunities. Education programs, camping, guided walks and hikes and displays in the Nature House provide a range of activities and learning experiences.
The West Coast Trail (Pacific Rim National Park Reserve)
The world-famous, 77-kilometre trail along the West Coast of Vancouver Island, was originally cut into the wilderness at the turn of the century as a ship-wreck rescue trail. This difficult hike of approximately six days is recommended for experienced hikers only. Reservations are required For more information, call 1-800-HELLOBC. Outfitters and guided tours are available and recommended for this challenging hike.
Strathcona Provincial Park
More than 100 kilometres of hiking trails wind through 3,500 hectares of old-growth forest and meadows. Various trails exist for all hiking levels. The park is accessible by bus or car from Courtenay and Campbell River. Tour guides and outfitters are available and are recommended for hikes in this large park.
