Educational and Technical Tours

Victoria is the capital city and the seat of government for the province of BC, as well as the home of an agricultural research centre, Canada’s western naval base and a fast-growing biotechnical industry. Victoria offers many opportunities for unique technical visits. Contact the organizations listed below or call the Leisure & Travel Department at Tourism Victoria at (250)414-6999 for custom requests. Advance arrangements are required. Here are a few tour examples:

Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt — Free guided tours of Canada’s historic west coast naval base are available. Contact (250)363-5583.

Forestry Tours — Complimentary forestry and mill tours are available in Port Alberni, Lake Cowichan, Port Renfrew, and Crofton. Contact the Alberni Forest Information Centre at (250)720-2108 or Timber West at (250)246-3232.

Agricultural Tours — Tours are available of a wide variety of types and sizes of agricultural operations. Contact the BC Ministry of Agriculture and Food at (250)655-5649.

City Hall — Victoria City Hall will assist with various technical tours. Cost is minimal. Contact (250)385-5711.
