13th Annual Tribute to Robbie Burns
Craigdarroch Castle was built by Robert Dunsmuir and completed in 1890. Dunsmuir, in true Scottish tradition, was know to host celebrations for Robbie Burns Day. Both Robert Dunsmuir and his wife Joan also had a personal connection with Robbie Burns... the first book of poetry by Burns was published in Kilmarnock, the town where Joan and Robert were married.
Schedule:
10:00am - 4:30pm Castle open for self-guided tours
11:30am Start of performance by Qristina and Quinn Quartet
12:00pm The Highland Gathering Light Horse and Foot Guard will pipe the Haggis into the Castle. Bill Johnston will give 'The Address to the Haggis'. Visitors will be invited to sample a wee bit of Haggis.
12:15 - 1:15pm The Qristina and Quinn Quartet will continue to entertain in the Alcove between the first and second floor.
The Tribute to Robbie Burns is included with regular admission. As a memento feel free to take home your free copy of a Robbie Burns' poem and the reciope for Haggis.

Please note that, as an historic house museum Craigdarroch Castle has 87 stairs, no elevators or ramps. This is not a seated event.
