Father's day is fast approaching this weekend. Do you have something planned yet? There are plenty of activities happening all over the city so I have pulled a simple list together of some "dad" friendly options.

If you haven't yet decided what you would like to do for dad, perhaps this list will inspire you to get dad out for the day.

Best in Show: The Dog Show for Mutts!

What: A dog show for amateurs. Lots of categories to participate and win prizes in!

??Blithe Spirit by Noel Coward

Hosted by: The Royal & Macpherson Theatre Society

What: A theatrical production by Noel Coward about a Seyance that goes wrong and causes a cosmic clash of personalities both from this world and beyond.

Where: The Macpherson Playhouse. #3 Centennial square, Pandora Avenue and Government Street.

Who: The whole family.

When: Running Daily until June 19. Father's Day matinee showing at 2:00 pm.

How: $42.75 per ticket for adults; $37.50 for seniors and students.

Chess In The Square

Hosted by: Victoria Junior Chess and the DVBA

What: An outdoor chess gathering including casual games, giant chess and demos.

Where: Fisguard and Government Street.

Who: Family fun for all ages. Casual players, people new to the game and seasoned veterans alike.

When: 12:00 pm to 4:30 pm, June 19.

How: Free!

Father's Day at Pacific Northwest Raptors

Hosted By: Pacific Northwest Raptors Ltd.

What: Watch live birds of prey fly, hunt and show off while getting up and close with the birds and handlers. A special "Hawk Walk" is also being offered for Father's Day, which is a brief walk through the forest with the birds in their natural habitat.

Where: 1877 Herd Road, Duncan BC. (Herd road is hard to spot, so from Victoria, follow highway 1 to highway marker 18 and take a right turn there.)

When: Pacific Northwest Raptors is open from 11:00 am to 4:30 pm daily, with live demonstrations at 1:30 and 3:30 pm.

How: Adults $12, Children 3 - 12 $6, under 3 free, youth 13 to 17 and seniors $10, family pass for $34 (two adults + two children) and Father's Day on Sunday has a half price special for Fathers!

Father's Day BBQ Buffet

Hosted by: Merridale Ciderworks

What: A BBQ event for families to celebrate Father's Day.

Where: The Merridale Ciderworks. 1230 Merridale Road, Cobble Hill.

Who: The BBQ is for the whole family!

When: 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, June 19.

How: ?$19.95 per person and $10.95 for the wee ones under 10.

Father's Day Dinner at the Winery

Hosted By: Church and State Wines, Brentwood Bay

What: A sumptuous cuisine and wine pairing dinner event for Father's Day celebrations. Be sure to check out the Raptors at Church and State flying demonstrations in the afternoon!

Where: Church and State Wine's Brentwood Bay location, 1445 Benvenuto Avenue, Victoria.

Who: 19 years and older.

When: 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, June 19. Reservations are recommended.

How: $40 for dinner or $55 for dinner and wine pairings.

Summer Fair at Heritage Acres

Hosted by: Saanich Historical Artifacts Society
What: A Summer Fair with the Vancouver Island Model Engineer Trains - a favourite for young children and adults alike!

Where: Heritage Acres. 7321 Lochside Drive, Saanichton.

Who: The whole family.

When: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm June 18 and 19 (Trains run 10:00 am - 3:30 pm.)

How: By donation.

Safeway Father's Day Walk/Run for Prostate Cancer

Hosted by: The Prostate Centre Victoria

What: An eight kilometer run or three kilometer walk with entertainment, bbq and prizes to raise awareness for prostate cancer.

Where: Royal Roads University. 2005 Sooke Road, Victoria.

Who: The whole family.

When: 10:00 am race start, June 19.

How: Free to attend.

Saunders Subaru  Triathlon Victoria

Hosted by: Saunders Subaru

What: Formerly named the New Balance Victoria Triathlon, this event is a run, bike and swim race with entertainment, guest speakers and child friendly activities.

Where: The start/finish checkpoint is along Brookleigh Road, so that may be the place to be as the race takes off and the competitors start completing the track. Hamsterly park will provide the best overall race viewing.

Who: Fun for the whole family. Child activities on Saturday.

When: 2:00 pm June 18 (kids fun race), Triathlon starts 6:45 am June 19.

How:  Free for the whole family to watch.

Urbacity Victoria Challenge

Hosted by: ?Maximus Canada

What: A four hour race that challenges the minds and bodies of participants to complete challenges to earn points.

Where: Around the Victoria downtown core, with start and finish to the event occurring at the Save On Foods Memorial Centre.

Who: There will be teams of two participating, but the whole family is allowed to aid and take part.

When: 10:00 am race start time, completion must occur by 2:00 pm, June 19.

How: $150 per team entrance two people per team, under 19 years must have an accompanying adult.

?Vancouver Island Cultural Festival (Vic Fest)

Hosted by: Capitol City Productions

What: A one day outdoor festival that will provide a true island experience. Local art and culture, live entertainment and beer gardens.

Where: St Anns Academy, 835 Humboldt Street, Victoria.

Who: Anyone 19 and older.

When: Gates open 11:00 am June 18.

How: $40 per ticket. $5 for a wine & beer garden pass.
