Butterfly GardenA visit to Victoria would not be complete without a trip along the Saanich Peninsula. It is home to ducks, flamingos, rare tropical birds, a chameleon, geckos, poison dart frogs, tortoises, turtles, giant koi, thousands of free-flying butterflies and tropical plants – including exotic edible plants and carnivorous plants. 3. Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre – Located right on the waterfront in Sidney, the Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre is an award-winning, not-for-profit aquarium which showcases the amazing ecosystem of the Salish Sea. Young and old will delight at all it has to offer! Check out wolf eels, jellyfish, rockfish and the giant Pacific octopus, Mo! Shake hands with sea stars, sea cucumbers and anemones at the touch pool and explore the facilities with a scavenger hunt. 4. British Columbia Aviation Museum – Operated by the volunteer-run B.C. Aviation Museum Society, the British Columbia Aviation Museum is dedicated to the collection, preservation and restoration of aircraft artifacts related to Canada’s aviation history, especially in British Columbia.
