Whether you’re keen on classic boats, theatre or the next big musical acts, you’re in the right place; Victoria residents and visitors are spoiled for choice when it comes to the number of festivals and events on offer. Victoria Fringe Festival:  August 22 – September 1 Back for its 27th year, Victoria has an exciting and eclectic mix of performers ready to entertain on eight stages. Bring the kids and get creative at the Fringekids Fest, marvel at Romp! In The Square dance acts each night, and check out as much inventive comedy, drama and storytelling as you can! From spoken word, drama and musicals, to comedy, and puppet theatre, there’s a performance style for everyone. Pick up a Visa Button and tickets and get set for a unique theatrical treat! 35th Annual Victoria Classic Boat Festival:  August 31 – September 1 Come downtown to check out the fleet of classic yachts and workboats floating majestically in Victoria’s Inner Harbour. The three-day event includes a Steam Boat Parade, Rowing Regatta, and Sail Past & Salute, and culminates with the Annual Schooner Cup and Classic Open Sail Races. Get involved and join the Dory Races open to everyone, and be sure vote for your favourite boat! Explore the stalls on the causeway and stop for a bite at one of the food trucks that will be located around the Inner Harbour. Victoria International Chalk Festival:  September 11 – 15 Building on the success of last year’s very first Chalk Festival, get ready for even more unreal artistry from the world’s top street painters. Watch participants from all over the globe recreate larger-than-life chalk masterpieces right before your eyes. You’ll find all the action on Government Street up to Centennial Square. Check out the Lower Level of the Bay Centre for a 20’ x 30’ 3D work of art before heading to Centennial Square for food trucks, a children’s chalk area and music stage. Rifflandia Music Festival:  September 12 – 15 Another awesome line-up this year brings music lovers from all over to rock out in our city! This year’s top acts include Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Big Boi, Death From Above 1979, and recent addition Courtney Love! More than 170 bands are signed to play over the weekend – check the complete line-up here. Be prepared for both big names and new finds as you enjoy the festival at Royal Athletic Park, then wander downtown to catch acts playing various locations around town.
