Get out into nature and spend some time on Victoria's mountain biking trails. Whether you're excited to try downhill mountain biking for yourself or would rather just watch the experts perform fabulous stunts and tricks, the mountain biking park at the Bear Mountain Resort should be your #1 destination.

Mountain Biking for the Whole Family

If you've never been mountain biking, you're in for a true treat! Zoom through Vancouver Islands' beautiful landscapes and lush forests, past small streams to mountains with stunning views of Victoria. Together with the Nature Trails Society, the Bear Mountain Resort offers trails for all skill and fitness levels. Rent a bike and get out into nature! Once you feel comfortable on your bike, head over to the Bear Mountain Bike Park and catch some air. Designed for riders of all levels, the park is the perfect spot to try something new and they also offer coaching sessions to get you started on the right wheel.

Watch Extraordinary Professionals at BearTrax (formerly JumpShip)

The Bear Mountain Resort is also home to BearTrax, a truly unique Victoria biking event. Jumpship was originally born in Victoria's Inner Harbour where bikers performed tricks on a special barge. But to truly represent mountain biking, organizers moved the event to - you guessed it! - a mountain. And what a mountain! Take a quick look yourself.

You can expect to see professional free ride mountain bikers, impressive trick jumps, huge air and even a chance to try it yourself. This free, family-friendly event has riders competing on a one-of-a-kind course designed by freeride legend Jordie Lunn, running between the resort's two Nicklaus Design golf courses. The event site features a beer garden, vendors, live music, a kids' play area, and the AFD airbag for freeride enthusiasts to practice their tricks on! Pack your sun screen and feel free to bring a bike and/or helmet.

Train with Canada's Olympic Cyclists

In January 2015, Cycling Canada designated Bear Mountain as the Official High Performance Training Centre of the Canadian National Mountain Bike Team. The location's year-round accessibility and technical terrain make it the perfect spot to train Canada's best athletes for international competition. Mountain Biking entails several events ranging from long distance races over multiple days to unbelievably fast and technical races whereby riders reach speeds of up to 85kmh/53mph. A fascinating sport to watch and to get into!

Love cycling but mountain biking is not your thing? Victoria is Canada's cycling capital, so whether you enjoy a leisurely ride through town or want to explore Victoria's beautiful nature on a longer ride, this city has it all!
