Dine Around and Stay in Town is in full swing! It's on now through March 6, so if you haven't taken advantage of these incredible deals on three-course meals at over 65 of Victoria's finest restaurants yet, you've still got time this weekend to make it happen.
Last week, we gave you a guide to Dine Around with tips on making reservations and finding great accommodation in Victoria during the event. This week, we'll break down a whole bunch of gluten-free and vegetarian options for you.
Alright, veggies. Just because you've opted out of meat does not mean that you'll be sacrificing flavour or dining options this year during Dine Around. Heron Rock Bistro has gone all-out this year and put together two entirely vegetarian Dine Around menus at $20 and $30 price points. On the $20 menu, you'll find a decadent Tasting Platter appetizer option complete with mixed olives, Qualicum bleu claire, garlic confit, whole grain mustard, pickles, and crostini, which pairs excellently with Category 12's Unsanctioned Belgian Saison. Choose from two main course options including a Vegetarian Po'boy sandwich and Polenta Lasagna.
At the $30 price point, you can head to 10 Acres Bistro and enjoy a three-course vegetarian meal with fresh, farm-to-table options such as their Roasted 10 Acres Squash Soup. Tip: Even if you're planning to accompany your meal with wine pairings, get there early and enjoy one of 10 Acres' incredible cocktails. This cocktail menu is one of the best in the city.
If you're interested in craft beer pairings, The Guild is a great option for dinner. Here, you'll enjoy a $30 Dine Around menu which features a main course of Roasted Shallot and Chestnut Tart with Caramelized Apples, Butternut Squash, Creamed Kale and Quinoa Brittle. They've got a ton of delicious, high-quality, local craft brews on tap and their knowledgable staff will be able to help you choose the best pairings to accompany your meal.
At the $40 price point, you can indulge in an incredible dining experience at The Marina Restaurant. Here, you'll enjoy fresh, west coast-inspired food while overlooking the Oak Bay Marina. On the vegetarian menu here, you can choose a starter of Almond Crusted Fried Brie with Cumberland sauce, parsley crisps & crostini, then move on to a Lemon & Ricotta Gnudi Mascarpone mushroom Remesco cream, served with herbs & spinach Grilled Portobello mushroom & arugula pesto. Finish on a sweet note with one of three vegetarian desserts including Chocolate Chocolate Sponge, Mocha Mousse & Chocolate Dentelle.
To those who follow gluten-free diets and have yet to visit Crooked Goose Bistro, you're missing out. Their $30 gluten-free Dine Around menu includes options such as house-made roasted beetroot hummus, mushroom soup, scallop frisee salad and baked bone-in pork chop with sweet onion rice and collard greens. For dessert, enjoy a roasted pear stuffed with a sweet apple compote and cookie crumble, glazed in a honey-marmalade and topped with Chantilly cream.
For meat lovers, head to Catalano or The Ruby. Catalano is offering gluten-free dishes such as beef carpaccio and pan roasted duck breast while The Ruby has gluten-free confit duck leg and thigh on the menu. Who says you have to compromise on flavour just because you can't have wheat?
