March in Victoria is all about getting ready for Spring, with the first cherry blossoms emerging around town and lots of cool events to remind us that sunshine and festival season is just around the corner. Here are 10 things you can do in Victoria this month.

1. Take Part in Victoria Beer Week

Victoria Beer Week is back! This nine-day festival highlights a broad selection of BC's finest craft breweries through a series of events that aim to educate and inspire both seasoned beer lovers and those who are new to the brew.

The festival focuses on showcasing the high quality of BC's craft beer, offering large tasting events as well as more intimate seminars throughout the week. Check out the full schedule and get your tickets online

2. Visit the Beacon Hill Children's Farm

Have you heard? The Beacon Hill Children's Farm has welcomed eight baby goats since the beginning of February! They'll be opening for the season on March 10. Visit the petting area to say hello to these new furry friends, and explore the rest of the farm where you'll see alpacas, pigs and bunnies.

While you're at Beacon Hill Park, make sure to keep your eyes peeled for other wildlife like squirrels, geese, ducks, deer and peacocks.

3. Get Your Heart Racing

If heart-pounding exhilaration is your idea of a good time, or if you just like getting out in nature, check out Adrenaline Zipline Adventure Tours. Here, you'll be immersed in over 100 acres of coastal temperate rainforest as you speed along eight ziplines, cross two suspension bridges and enjoy a 10 minute Unimog ride to the top of the course. They open for the season on March 3.

4. Dine Around & Stay in Town

Victoria's favourite culinary celebration is on now, with over 50 local restaurants offering special 3-course menus at $20, $30, $40, and $50 price points. Check out the menus online and take part while you can! Dine Around & Stay in Town wraps up on March 5.

5. Count Victoria's Blooms

We're serious! Each year, Victoria lets the world know how lucky we are to live on the west coast as we begin counting our spring flowers in early March. Visit the Victoria Flower Count website to find out how you can get involved, and follow Victoria Flower Count on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date with the daily tallies.

6. See Floral Artwork Come to Life

Have you ever seen an outfit made entirely of fresh flowers? This March, visit Mayfair Shopping Centre to see Fleurs de Villes, a series of floral fashion displays that bring together Victoria's best in floral art and high fashion. The display will be open to the public from March 7-12 and is free to attend.

7. Get There on a Bike

We know, Victoria's been experiencing some truly wacky weather these days. That said, it's looking like winter is truly behind us now and that means it's time to break out the bikes and embrace spring with open arms.

Rent a bike with The Pedaler or Bike Tours Victoria and take a guided tour, or enjoy a self-guided cruise along the Galloping Goose trail. Stop for a snack at Fol Epi Bakery along the way or head out to Glenrosa Farm Restaurant in Metchosin for a yummy lunch after your ride.

8. Check out the Cherry Blossoms

Cherry blossom season is finally upon us! Choose to walk or bike through Beacon Hill Park and Chinatown where cherry and plum blossoms are always abundant, or take a short drive out to Hatley Castle and Gardens to see their sprawling gardens in full spring bloom. It's a sight to behold.

9. Learn About Victoria's Heritage Homes

Victoria's historic neighbourhoods are known for their unique and often ornate heritage homes, many of which have been restored to their former glory and beautifully maintained. Take a guided tour at Wentworth Villa, one of Victoria's most well-known heritage homes, and learn about the restoration process of the building and others like it.

10. Experience Happy Hour at the Museum

What better way to enjoy a museum than with good friends and a glass of wine?

On select Thursdays in March, enjoy drinks and light snacks at the Royal BC Museum happy hour as you explore the Natural History Gallery and take part in activities along the way.

Bonus: Celebrate St. Patrick's Day

On March 17, raise a pint at Irish Times Pub, Victoria's very own spirited Irish pub in the heart of Old Town. With live music and Irish dancers all day long, the only thing you'll have to worry about is getting there early to partake in the festivities.
