Explore universal themes through a Jewish lens. (Victoria) The Victoria International Jewish Film Festival is back for a second year, with a screening of eleven films, over four days, November 12-15, 2016. The films are of a secular nature, aimed not just at the Jewish community but also the wider communities of our region. They provide an opportunity to broaden awareness and engage discussion. This year’s roster includes six full-length films, and five award-winning short films. Screenings will take place once again at the Cineplex Odeon Theatre on Yates Street. “Last year’s inaugural Jewish film festival was a resounding success,” says Film Festival Director, Sandra Glass. “The festival brought together film fans and community members who shared the experience of seeing independent films not available at commercial cinemas, that are a cultural and aesthetic expression of universal themes.” Saturday, November 12 at 6:30 P.M launches the festival with a short film called Ave Maria, and a feature film, In Search of Israeli Cuisine. The Opening Night Reception takes place at 8:45 P.M. at the Atrium.
