Hungarian conductor Zsolt Nagy will be guest conductor for this concert. Nagy has held the post of Chief Conductor and Artistic Adviser of the Israel Contemporary Players since 1999 and in 2002 was appointed professor of conducting at the Paris Conservatory. Performing Haydn’s Acis and Galatea Overture, Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915, Op. 24 featuring UVic Concerto Competition Winner Margaret Lingas, voice, Bartók’s Romanian Folk Dances Sz. 76, and the premiere performance of Brook, nearer by Julio Lopezhiler, Winner of the 2016 UVic Composers’ Competition.
