Learn about the ancient practice of tea leaf reading with this fun, introductory session that teaches you the basics of tea leaf reading. The custom of reading tea leaves is an ancient practice that originated in China, which is also the home of the world's oldest tea tradition. According to legends, tea leaf reading began by interpreting the inside of iron bells - cracks and lines would appear from weathering and would create intriguing shapes thought to foretell the future. Eventually, someone realized that the inside of a Chinese teacup resembled an inverted bell, and that the tea leaves also may have a story to tell...
This class will be taught by Rachael Haisell, a 5th generation tea leaf reader, whose family hails from the UK, where tea leaf reading has been popular for centuries. Friends and family traditionally enjoy tea leaf readings together as an enjoyable activity or for special occasions such as birthdays, weddings, bridal showers or other celebrations.
In addition to being a fun activity, Tea Leaf Reading can become an opportunity for mindful reflection. Once you learn the basics, you can discover how to enjoy Tea Leaf Reading as a ritual that helps you step outside the hustle and bustle of your daily life, and develop a greater awareness and sense of connection to the self.
