Since 1886 the Royal BC Museum has preserved and shared the human and natural histories of this province. Discover the famous First Peoples, Natural History and Modern History Galleries and some of the 7 million artifacts and specimens in the museum's collections. Walk through a rainforest, sit among carved poles and stroll down a wood-cobbled street to window-shop in Old Town. Visit the Cafe, immerse yourself in the latest film at the Victoria IMAX Theatre and shop for books and finely crafted items.

Feature exhibitions this year include: Envisioning the World: The First Printed Maps, 1472-1700, October 4 to January 27, 2013; For Valour - The Canadian Scottish Regiment (Princess Mary's) 100 Years of Service in Peace and War, October 20 to December 2, 2012; The Navy: A Century in Art, November 6 to January 27, 2013; Race to the End of the Earth, May 17 to October 14, 2013.
Check the museum's online calendar for all activities and events. Open daily 10am - 5:00pm and Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings until 10 pm from late May to late September. Closed Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Three permanent exhibit galleries are available, after regular visiting hours, for private business or conference events. In the Natural History Gallery your guests can dine with a Woolly Mammoth, a grizzly bear or a sea lion looking on. The Modern History Gallery has Captain Vancouver's ship, a water wheel and a turn-of-the-century town, all perfect settings for entertainment and learning about the early days of British Columbia.
