Top Five Halloween Activities
Known as Canada's most haunted city, with its colonial architecture, narrow allies and historic graveyards and castles, Halloween in Victoria is a truly spooky time. Get in the spirit by enjoying some (or all!) of the following things.
Ghosts of Victoria Festival
Happening during the last two weeks of October every year, Ghosts of Victoria Festival features spooky activities throughout the city. These have included Ghostly Walks, Haunted Trolley Tours, Cemetery Ghost Tours, spooky plays, pumpkin art and the Festival of Fear at Galey Farms.
Haunted Horsedrawn Carriage Tours
Take a ride back in time with Victoria Carriage Tours on a haunted horse drawn trolley down the dark streets of Victoria and hear about the scary occurrences in the most haunted neighbourhoods on the west coast. You just might see a ghost or two!
Pumpkin Art on the Avenue
Every October Pumpkin Art on the Avenue takes over Oak Bay Avenue with hundreds of pumpkin carvings set up in themes featuring Canadian idols, cartoon characters, prime ministers, presidents, TV shows, the royal family, sixties icons and more. It's a Halloween must-see!
Halloween Spooktacular Fireworks
On Halloween night, Bear Mountain in Langford hosts a spooktacular evening of tricks, treats & fireworks! There is a children's costume contest (adults are encouraged to dress up too!), live entertainment, and nibbles and treats for all ages.
Pumpkin Flavoured Ales
Every fall many of Victoria's breweries release seasonal pumpkin ales. Often brewed with cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg in addition to pumpkin, they are perfect for enjoying on a crisp fall evening. Local favourites include Swans Pumpkin Ale and Spinnakers Spiced Pumpkin Porter.
