The Avenue Gallery – Feature Artist – Bob Leatherbarrow
Bob Leatherbarrow’s unique sushi dishes are inspired by fish from around the world. Each piece is crafted by pressing a linocut pattern into glass powder, firing at low temperatures, and hand-painting details with transparent powders, enamels, micas, lustres and dichro extract flakes. The finished fish are then fired onto the base glass and in a subsequent firing. The edges are coldworked to a crisp, flat edge and then all slumped to the same shape. Finished with glass legs, these dishes combine beauty and functionality.
