Join us at Ross Bay Villa Historic House Museum on Thursday, February 15 at 7:30pm to hear Stuart Stark’s lecture ‘Travels with the Roscoes: Amazing Journeys’. Learn about one early family of Victoria and how they traveled in the time before the railway came west.

During the 1860s & 1870s, the Roscoes of Ross Bay Villa travelled frequently between Victoria and Britain, Ottawa, Switzerland and locally to Nanaimo and mainland British Columbia. Historian and retired heritage architectural consultant Stuart Stark delves into these excursions and examines the routes, conveyances, hotels, cities, and sights that these intrepid travelers experienced 150 years ago. Adventure with the Roscoes from the comfort of your chair in the family’s restored Victoria home.

Illustrated lecture. Tickets are $10 and are only available online at You must book in advance to reserve your space. All proceeds support the volunteer-based Ross Bay Villa Society, which owns and operates our restored historic home, built in 1865.
