BROWNMAN ALI PLAYS MILES DAVIS — 1944 to 1969
7:00pm: A special Victoria, BC permutation of the BROWNMAN AKOUSTIC 4-TET will take the stage, led by Brownman Ali on trumpet, who has handpicked tunes Miles made famous between 1944 and 1969. You’ll hear samplings of Miles’ tenure with Charlie Parker, tunes from his time on the Prestige label with the 1st Great Quintet, through to Kind of Blue, and onward into the 2nd Great Quintet. “We’d need a whole week to get through all the various incredible twists and turns of Miles’ long career, so tonight we’re just going to focus on this 20-ish year segment”, states Ali.
