Any individual, team or organization from Greater Victoria or with a connection to this region can be nominated for a Greater Victoria Sports Award.

Please tell us why your nominee is deserving. Winners will be chosen by the GVSA Selection/Nomination Committee who will consider every public nomination received.

Award Description

This award recognizes an indigenous female athlete (from Greater Victoria) for exceptional athletic achievements. This category includes athletes with a disability.

Criteria

In 2022, all Greater Victoria Sports Award nominees will be judged on their performance during the period of 2017-2021, inclusive. This is only for the 2022 awards. This recognizes the gap in competition as a result of the pandemic. It also attempts to recognizes the most significant/recent achievements in sports— in years when these awards were not handed out. 

 

 

Award Description

This award recognizes an indigenous male athlete (from Greater Victoria) for exceptional athletic achievements. This category includes athletes with a disability.

Criteria

Award Description

This award recognizes the exceptional achievements of a Greater Victoria professional or amateur coach.

Criteria

Award Description

This award is in honour of John & Marilyn Bate, long-time champions of sport in Greater Victoria. This award recognizes the sports organization or school that made a significant difference for athletes in Greater Victoria. An organization or school which has worked to create access and opportunities for participation in sport or which inspires or motivates through their own collective vision.

Award Description

This award is in honour of Pat Hall, a member of the Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame. This award recognizes an individual who has contributed their time in an extraordinary way to sport over a long period of time and/or has made a major contribution to amateur sport in Greater Victoria. Posthumous awards are not accepted.

Criteria

In 2022, all Greater Victoria Sports Award nominees will be judged on their performance during the period of 2017-2021, inclusive. This is only for the 2022 awards. This recognizes the gap in competition as a result of the pandemic. It also attempts to recognizes the most significant/recent achievements in sports— in years when these awards were not handed out.

Award Description

This award recognizes a senior female athlete (amateur or professional, 19 years of age or older, from Greater Victoria) for exceptional athletic achievements. This category includes athletes with a disability.

Criteria

In 2022, all Greater Victoria Sports Award nominees will be judged on their performance during the period of 2017-2021, inclusive. This is only for the 2022 awards. This recognizes the gap in competition as a result of the pandemic. It also attempts to recognizes the most significant/recent achievements in sports— in years when these awards were not handed out.

This award recognizes a senior male athlete (amateur or professional, 19 years of age or older, from Greater Victoria) for exceptional athletic achievements. This category includes athletes with a disability.
