Teri-Lee Isaac

Owner, Tutchone Tours

Teri-Lee and her family live the Traditional Northern Tutchone lifestyle inspired by elders and community. Cultural practices like hunting and fishing are an integral part of her lifestyle and she ensures that these practices are passed on to her children allowing her family to be self-sustaining, while preserving these traditions for generations to come. Mostly raised by her grandmother, she spent a great deal of time at the remote historic site of Fort Selkirk. Memories of playing in the historic buildings, pretending to be teachers and students in the old school house led to respect for the significance of the history of Fort Selkirk. As people began to talk about experiences in residential schools, opening up about the past and remembered their culture, Teri-Lee understood that their stories needed to be told. Tutchone Tours allows people to access Fort Selkirk with an understanding of its history and significance to the Yukon. Teri-Lee’s pride in her culture manifests as an inner force driving her desire to share this knowledge through her Indigenous-led tours and storytelling. She is a mother of three and an artist. Her line, Bush Baby Creations, includes handmade moccasins, beaded earrings, hide shawls, belts and more.
