DR. HARVEY LOCKE

President, Harvey Locke Conservation Inc.

Dr. Harvey Locke is a recognized global leader in the field of parks, wilderness, large landscape conservation, and nature-based solutions for the climate. He currently chairs the IUCN's World Commission on Protected Areas Beyond the Aichi Targets Task Force, focused on global conservation targets.

Dr. Locke is a conservationist, writer, and photographer. Known for his passionate public speaking in favour of Nature on every continent, he is a recognized global leader in the field of parks, wilderness, large landscape conservation, and nature-based solutions for the climate. He is co-founder of the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative and of the Nature Needs Half Movement. Named one of Canada's leaders for the 21st century by Time Magazine, in 2014 he received the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas Fred M. Packard Award for his contribution to the worlds protected areas. He chairs the IUCN's World Comission on Protected Areas Beyond the Aichi Targets Task Force. He lives in Banff National Park, Canada, where his family has deep roots.
