Dr. Rachel Dodds has over 20 years’ experience in the tourism industry and is a specialist in the field of sustainable tourism.

She is arguably one of the most cited authors in Canada around this topic, having written, co-authored, and edited hundreds of articles about sustainable tourism, corporate social responsibility and urban sustainability. She runs her own boutique consultancy firm, Sustaining Tourism and is also a Professor at the Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Ryerson University.

Rachel’s work focuses on marketing, planning and management of tourism as well as understanding consumer behaviour. She is the current Director of Ryerson's Hospitality and Tourism Research Institute. Rachel recognizes that competitiveness is directly linked to economic, social and environmental responsibility and leadership. She has lived and worked in four continents and travelled to over 80 countries, experiencing first-hand the successes and failures of businesses, destinations and governments, and identified many missed opportunities.
