Ian Welle
Principal Engineer, Polar Engineering
Ian Welle focuses on the design and development of low global warming potential energy recovery systems. These systems take waste heat from the ocean, sewage, or the air to provide all the hot water requirements for a faciltiy.
Ian has used his background in thermodynamics to become an expert in low global warming potential industrial refrigeration systems.
This experience has allowed him to become the lead engineer responsible for the CO2 cooling systems for the two largest telescopes being built in Hawaii and Chile
Ian is excited to continue pushing the envelope by designing high temperature energy efficient hot water systems which drastically reduce the fossil fuel consumed in a facility, while keeping capital costs down.
