HomeThings to Do‘Commuter’s Paradise’ at Gage Gallery

Eyes catch, but rarely linger. A hallway in flux, vibrating with the low hum of it’s motor. Conversations in snippets blend with the sounds of traffic. Hollers of gratitude to the driver at every exit. A moving tapestry of culture, colour, and sound.

Liz Saunders uses her art to capture the blending of private and public spaces; each individual in their own private world (watching screens, talking to friends, staring out the window, lost in thought) while sharing a public space, which happens to be actively moving through a larger public space. In juxtaposition to her artwork observing humanity is Saunders’ en plain air artwork observing the natural world; inviting you to reflect on the relationship between a journey and it’s destination.
