Get ready for an unforgettable weekend of music and dance as Fandango in Victoria takes over The Coda on July 11 and 12. This special two-night event will showcase the vibrant sounds of two of Canada’s premier Latin and Mexican-inspired bands: Locarno (Vancouver) and El Balcón (Montreal).

A fandango is a tradition from Veracruz, Mexico, similar to an old-time music gathering or an Irish Ceilidh. There is traditional Son Jarocho music, food and drink, and set dancing.

Locarno is a high energy Mexican folk fusion band lead by Tom Landa, who is best known for his work with The Paperboys. They have a new album out called ‘Colibrí Caliope’ and were recently nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award.

El Balcón is a Montreal based band who play traditional Mexican Folk fused with Balkan and Eastern influences. They are creating quite the buzz in Canada with showcases at Mundial, and performances at Calgary Folk Fest, Starbelly Jam, and tours across BC, Ontario, and Quebec.

Destination Greater Victoria is honoured to be based on the traditional territory of the Lekwungen-speaking peoples of the Songhees Nation and Xwsepsum Nation, whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.
