JAN RANDALL has been teaching jazz history courses at UVic for the last 10 years including How to Listen to Jazz, The History of Jazz, Ella and Billie,
The History of the Blues, The Music of New Orleans, The Emotional Language of Music, and Boogie Woogie, Barrel House, and Stride.
He is an accomplished jazz and blues pianist and composer, and a well known band leader and sideman with award winning original soundtracks and a recent run on CBC as the music director of the Irrelevant Show.
PAUL WAINWRIGHT formed his own group in 2004 after many years of touring and recording. In 2006 he released Paul Wainwright & SaxSafari-Plank Spankin’ which garnered rave reviews and considerable rotation in numerous US markets. The follow up Midnight Café continued the momentum. His group of many years the Big Band Trio were one of Canada’s most beloved vocal swing groups. A hit at festivals and events across Canada and the US, they recorded four cds.
