Royal BC Museum and Centre of the Universe have partnered together to bring a star-studded lineup of activities to celebrate International Astronomy Day.

The Royal BC Museum will be hosting an International Astronomy Day event put on by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC), on Saturday April 25, 2026 from 10am to 3pm. The event features speakers, an Ask An Astronomer table, displays of Astrophotography, indoor telescopes, solar viewing (weather permitting), and craft tables for the kids.

The Centre of the Universe will be hosting a Star Party later that night from 7:30pm to 11pm. Their event will feature a talk by UVic professor Jon Willis “The Pale Blue Data Point,” to explore the possibility of life off Earth by envisioning extraterrestrial landscapes and their closest Earth analogs. Guests can also enjoy tours of the Observatory, planetarium shows, and weather permitting, telescopes set up for viewing. The evening begins with a presentation for kids, followed by a tour of the Observatory for them as well.

Destination Greater Victoria is honoured to be based on the traditional territory of the Lekwungen-speaking peoples of the Songhees Nation and Xwsepsum Nation, whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.
