Curious about how scientists sample the open ocean?  Discover how various research is done from specialized science vessels and vessels of opportunity.

Ever seen a red and white Canadian Coast Guard vessel and wondered what they are actually doing?   Where do ocean science vessels go and what do the teams do once they are there?

What is it like living aboard a research vessel — whether for a short trip of just a few days or a long voyage lasting several months.

Interested in getting involved?  Learn how you can join as a scientist, engineer, ship’s officer, crew member, or if you are in the trades.

Learn about this and much more during a 45 minute presentation at the Royal BC Museum on Thursday 4 June at 6:30 p.m.  Free admission.

Presented by Steve Romaine, Institute of Ocean Sciences
