Movie Nights at the Museum: “Minoru: Memory of Exile” and “Sleeping Tigers: The Asahi Baseball Story”

By Donation

The Sidney Museum is hosting several movie nights this fall on topics related to our current exhibits “Lost Liberties: The War Measures Act” and “Displacing Differences”. On October 22nd we will be looking at the internment of Japanese Canadians and their forcible uprooting from B.C’s coast in two films.

“Minoru: Memory of Exile” is the story of the filmmaker’s father, Minoru Fukushima, and his experience during internment and his expulsion afterwards to Japan.

“Sleeping Tigers: The Asahi Baseball Story” is a documentary following the legendary Asahi baseball team who prior to World War II had been unbeatable and the stories of the players during internment.

The screening will start at 7:00pm at the Sidney Museum, 2423 Beacon Avenue, Lower Level. Admission is by donation.

Please RSVP to [email protected] so we can get a sense of numbers.
