Navratri 2026
The Gujarati Society of Victoria (GSOV) invites all members of the community to join in observing Navratri – a cherished cultural event in the Hindu community – with several nights of music and dance, including Garba and Raas Dandiya, both traditional but highly energetic folk dancing.
This year’s event will take place on October 10, 11, and 12 at Saanich Commonwealth Place, and is expected to draw more than one thousand participants who, with millions of people around the world, take this time to celebrate strength, resilience, and hope – all the more important in current times.
Guests from all walks of life – seasoned dancers and first-time participants, children, students, and families, irrespective of background, cultural, or religious beliefs – are welcome to join and celebrate a fifteen-hundred-year tradition, connecting people in the community through movement and dance.
In addition to non-stop dance and revelry, light vegetarian meals will be served by the Gujarati Society of Victoria, a non-profit organization formed under the British Columbia Societies Act for the purpose of sharing Indian, Hindu, and Gujarati culture, creating connections within the community, and enriching the diversity of Victoria and Vancouver Island.
