Sooke Region Museum Open House
Join us at the Sooke Region Museum’s Open House to peek behind the scenes at the museum, visit outdoor exhibits, and eat a delicious meal! The event takes place from 11am-3pm on Sunday 28 June. Admission is free.
Food available for purchase includes the signature salmon dinners cooked over an alder-wood fire, as well as hot dogs, hamburgers, and strawberry shortcake. To help keep lineups shorter, there will be two services of salmon dinners: one at noon and one at 1pm. You can select your preferred time when you purchase a ticket. Limited tickets are available for presale; check the museum’s website for more information.
Onstage, 3 Bits’ Worth and the Sooke Community Jazz Band will give musical performances throughout the event. Around the grounds, there will be wide variety of exhibits and activities to discover. The historic Moss Cottage and Triangle Island Lighthouse will both be open for visits. There will also be guided tours of the Museum collection’s hidden treasures at 12pm and 2pm. Elsewhere on the grounds, you can watch films about local history and learn about the natural world through hands-on activities and a scavenger hunt of ‘animals’ hidden throughout the grounds – find the animals and learn their names in SENĆOŦEN. You can even have your photo taken at three All Sooke Day-themed photo ops or in a historical costume!
We look forward to seeing you there!
