UVic Alumni Concert: Jeremy Potts (violin) and Jany Lu (piano)
The UVic School of Music’s Emerging Artist Alumni Series presents the violin and piano duo featuring Jeremy Potts and Jany Lu. In a program of sonatas, experience the lyrical warmth of Brahms, the unique colors and rhythms of Ravel, and the passionate expression of Fauré.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Jeremy Potts (BMus ’12) is a versatile violinist and educator, and a two-time JUNO nominee who has recorded award-winning albums across classical, jazz, and video game soundtracks. He has collaborated with renowned contemporary composers and toured with Music in the American Wild. Jeremy advocates for underrepresented Canadian composers, having spent five years with the Ton Beau String Quartet. He regularly performs with the Victoria Symphony and has played with prestigious ensembles like the National Ballet of Canada and the Rochester Philharmonic. He holds degrees from the University of Victoria and the Eastman School of Music.
Jany Lu (BMus ’17) studied piano performance at the Victoria Conservatory of Music and the University of Victoria, and later at the University of Toronto. Based in Victoria, BC, she teaches at the VCM where many of her students have earned distinctions in the Royal Conservatory of Music examinations and local festivals. She also serves as a collaborative pianist, supporting various VCM programs. Outside the Conservatory, she frequently collaborates with local artists and has performed at notable events like the Ukraine Benefit Concert, Carnival of Our Animals with the Victoria Symphony, and more.
