Christine Loth-Bown

Vice-President, External Relations and Visitor Experience, Parks Canada

Christine Loth-Bown has had a distinguished career in policy development and program implementation at the federal level, with over 27 years of experience. She has gained expertise in strategic planning, environmental protection and conservation, impact assessment, and cultural heritage protection and promotion. Christine began her career working in Indigenous affairs and has continued to play a leadership role in working on both environmental and cultural Indigenous issues. She has a Master of Arts in Canadian Studies from Carleton University with a specialization in Indigenous studies and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Canadian Studies and Political Science from Glendon College, York University, Toronto.

Christine has held executive roles at Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the Canadian Tourism Commission and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency, where she led the development and implementation of several pieces of federal legislation including the Fisheries Act and the Impact Assessment Act. She also played a key leadership role in the development of a number of strategic policy initiatives and corporate planning frameworks.

Prior to joining Parks Canada, Christine held senior roles at the Canadian Tourism Commission and Fisheries and Oceans Canada, where she played a leadership role in the development of strategic policy initiatives as well as corporate planning frameworks. In addition, Christine was the Vice President of External Relations and Strategic Policy at the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada, where she was responsible, among other things, for external relations and engagement.

In February 2020, Christine was appointed Vice President of Indigenous Affairs and Cultural Heritage at Parks Canada, where she played a key leadership role in moving forward key organizational files such as Bill 23 the Historic Places of Canada Act; the Indigenous Stewardship Framework; the Framework for History and Commemoration and addressing the legacy of residential schools.

In February 2023, Christine was appointed Vice President of External Relations and Visitor Experience at Parks Canada.
