Imagine a house full of everything you, your siblings, your parents, and your grandparents ever owned. What could this building and these objects tell you about your family, your life, or your community?
Visit the beautiful Point Ellice House, a green oasis in the heart of Victoria’s industrial core. Built in 1861, the Italianate Villa is one of the oldest homes in the city. It boasts an extensive collection of Victorian and Edwardian artifacts from the O’Reilly family, who inhabited the house for 108 years before selling it and all its contents to the Province of British Columbia in 1975. Explore the historic house and gardens from Thursday to Sunday and join us for various workshops and special events throughout the year.
Victoria and British Columbia changed rapidly around Point Ellice House. Similar houses and properties were demolished, but Point Ellice House, its contents, and its gardens remain.
