About Symphony in the Summer

Symphony in the Summer is one of North America's largest symphonic gatherings. From late July through early August, the Victoria Symphony along with a selection of performers, play at some of the most iconic venues in the region, including the world-renown Butchart Gardens, Christ Church Cathedral, and the iconic Inner Harbour. Within these stunning settings, visitors can experience classical performances like they've never seen (or heard!) before. The festival culminates in the dazzling Symphony Splash! A free concert performed on Victoria's Inner Harbour.

This year's lineup

Back for their 85th anniversary, this year's Symphony in the Summer Festival is truly special. The Pacific Opera joins the Victoria Symphony for an unforgettable night at The Butchart Gardens (the concert is included with the price of admission to the Gardens). The sound of strings fills the air as the Victoria Symphony brings their classical charm to Christ Church Cathedral, this performance features VS Principal Trumper, Ryan Cole, taking the spotlight for Neruda's Trumpet Concerto in E-flat major. The National Youth Orchestra of Canada, brings their performance to Christ Church Cathedral for performances of Nicholas Denton Protsack, Prokofiev, and Shostakovich. With the festival concluding Saturday, August 2nd for Symphony Splash! at the Inner Harbour.

Symphony Splash!

While part of the Symphony in the Summer program, Symphony Splash! is an event all its own. Make your way down to the Inner Harbour August 2nd and 3rd for a series of free concerts to send off the festival with a bang. Performances include Celeigh Cardinal & Shawnee Kish with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, Latin Nights with Sal Ferraras ft. Adonis Puentes at the Victoria Symphony, as well as performances by the National Youth Orchestra of Canada and the Victoria Symphony on August 3rd for the Traditional Symphony Splash complimented by a stunning fireworks show.
