Celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day at Royal Roads University with a vibrant, all-ages gathering on the traditional lands of the Lekwungen-speaking Peoples, the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations. This free event invites visitors to experience live performances from Indigenous dancers, singers, and drummers, alongside a canoe landing protocol, cultural demonstrations, and a lively artisan market. Throughout the day, guests can take part in guided nature walks, traditional games, children’s activities, and enjoy local food offerings, creating a welcoming space to connect, learn, and honour Indigenous culture and community.

National Indigenous Peoples Day: A Celebration of Culture, Music, and Art

The Victoria Conservatory of Music in downtown Victoria is hosting an afternoon that brings together music, creativity, and community in a welcoming, all-ages setting. This free event invites visitors to explore Indigenous culture through interactive workshops such as learning ancestral songs and Métis jigging, or participating in a collaborative beat and lyric cypher. Visitors can also enjoy presentations of youth-created music videos and a shared closing showcase. It’s a meaningful opportunity to connect, learn, and celebrate the richness of Indigenous art and expression in Victoria.
