Summer in Victoria brings with it a je ne sais quoi energy as the city comes alive with vibrant events, live music, activities and more. With a wide variety of offerings from now until the end of summer, check out our list of events you can’t miss in Victoria.

 

Car Free YYJ

June 16

This highly anticipated event is a local favourite! Car Free YYJ is a day-long celebration that takes over nine city blocks of Douglas Street in the heart of downtown Victoria. Picture five stages with live entertainment, licensed food and beverage areas, and more than 400 local artists, makers and activations. 

Insider tip: Arrive on two wheels or two feet for convenient access to this event.

Tour Des Iles

June 21-23

Just a hop, skip and a jump from Swartz Bay ferry terminal, discover the Southern Gulf Islands during Tour Des Iles, an annual event where Galiano, Mayne, Pender, Saturna and Salt Spring islands are connected by small boat service. Courtesy shuttles with knowledgeable local drivers take passengers to island attractions such as art galleries, markets and natural wonders.

Victoria Indigenous Cultural Festival

June 21-23

From June 21-23, enjoy three days filled with colour, sound, education and appreciation of the wonders of local Indigenous culture, held on the Royal BC Museum Mezzanine and along Victoria's Inner Harbour. Enrich your knowledge of the Coast Salish culture and immerse yourself into the free festivities. Find more on the event here.

Victoria Pride Week

June 30-July 7

Victoria welcomes love year-round, but celebrates a little extra during Pride Month and Victoria Pride Week. From June 30 – July 7 take part in fabulous events like the Memorial Dragball Game and the Big Gay Dog Walk. Find our Guide to Pride here.

Summer Entertainment at The Butchart Gardens

Daily June 29-August 31

Each night from June 29 to August 31, you can take in a live performance on the Concert Lawn at The Butchart Gardens. The stage plays host to a variety of performers, from bands to ballet and more. Entertainment is included with admission to the gardens. Find the schedule here. 

 

Friday Nights on the Breakwater Barge

Friday’s 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.

This is the place to be on Friday evening! Celebrate the start of the weekend with food trucks, live music, craft beer and cider, and great company at this unique location off Victoria’s Dallas Road. Find more on this event here.

 

Sidney Night Market

Thursdays 5:30 -8:30 p.m.

The largest outdoor market on Vancouver Island, the Sidney Street Market transforms Sidney’s main street to pedestrian traffic only as 130 vendors offer everything from local produce, baked goods, artisan jewellery, crafts, gifts, food and live music.

Canada Day

July 1

Gather in the Inner Harbour to celebrate Canada Day in B.C.’s capital city. Join in on the largest living flag by wearing one of the free red or white t-shirts provided, take in the performances from the main stage and meander about exploring vendors and more. Find more information here.


 

TD Victoria International Jazzfest

June 21 – June 30

Taking place over ten days, the TD Victoria International JazzFest celebrates jazz, blues, and music from all over Canada and the globe. This festival takes place in venues all over town, which means it’s a great opportunity to get out and explore the different corners of our city. Downtown Victoria Buskers Festival

July 3 – July 7

The Downtown Victoria Buskers Festival (DVBF) is a free five-day family-friendly community festival that showcases quirky and unique street talent from around the world. Each July, Victoria becomes a hub of busking talent with performers from around the world! 

 

Phillips Backyard Weekender

July 26-28

Disguised as a brewery parking lot by day, the Phillips Backyard space magically transforms into an outdoor music festival for three incredible nights of this licensed music festival! This event is a summer highlight and not to be missed.

Northwest Deuce Days

July 18-21

Every three years, classic car lovers travel from around the world to Victoria for the unique opportunity to view 1,400 spectacular pre-1952 collector vehicles. Take advantage of the opportunity to admire classic cars, meet their owners and witness their passion firsthand.

 

Symphony Splash

August 4 

Each year, tens of thousands of people flock to the Inner Harbour to enjoy Symphony Splash. From a floating stage in the harbour, the Victoria Symphony Orchestra and special guests perform an incredible set which concludes with fireworks! Witness the performance from land, or experienced paddlers can catch the performance from canoe or kayak.
