Driving tips

Victoria is highly walkable, so a car isn't always necessary. Many top attractions outside of downtown are easily accessible by shuttle. Having a car is great for day trips when exploring Victoria's nearby communities. Parking is easy to find in Victoria with both private and public parkades as well as streetside parking. On weekends and holidays, the parkades can get busy, so plan to arrive a little earlier.

Inner Harbour

This out and back pathway stretches from Ship Point across the iconic Lower Causeway and out to Fisherman's Wharf, covering about 2.5 kilometres each way. It offers some of the city's best oceanfront views while keeping elevation changes at a minimum. If the kiddos are tired when you get to the end, you can always opt to hop on a harbour ferry to come back.

Beacon Hill Park

There are about four kilometres of official pathway that wind through gardens, old growth trees, fields, and Garry oak meadows in Beacon Hill Park. Many visitors don't set a route and simply explore, but you can follow a loop trail around the perimeter of the park. Beacon Hill Park is a favourite stroll for families that has some great stops including playgrounds and a petting zoo.

Dallas Road

At just shy of 10 kilometres in length from end-to-end and back, the Dallas Road pathway follows the southern coastline of Vancouver Island from Ogden Point to Clover Point. It's a local favourite for sunrise and sunset walks, offering spectacular views across the Salish Sea toward the distant Olympic mountains. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife in the waves below.
